Contribution to EC policies

i-SeT contribution to EC policies can be summarized as follows:

i-SeT facilitates the full participation of SMEs in the economy and their interaction with their working environment including all actors (e.g. employees, customers, suppliers, partners, public authorities):

interlinks a very small tourism organization through i-SeT portal with the e-tourism industry
embeds/ support new organizational processes (customer relationship processes, inter-departmental collaboration etc.) in the intra-organizational level
helps very small tourism organizations to exchange expertise and organize common promotion and marketing activities developing a knowledge sharing behavior in the inter-organizational level.

i SeT solution facilitates the whole value chain of a Small Tourism Organization by providing selected services to:

the customer (internet access and related services)
the employer (hotel management functionalities)
the tourism entrepreneurs (networking and marketplace services through the i-SeT portal)
the local authorities and local organizations active in the tourism industry (i.e. museums, restaurants etc). The i-SeT portal provides a reference place for all local SMEs active in the tourism sector and a policy making instrument for initiatives undertaken by the local authorities (training, promotion activities etc.)
the wider public (through pre-visit and post-visit information services).

i-SeT increases the competitiveness of SMEs by:

providing access to eBusiness solutions targeted at the SMEs community as a whole; it addresses an issue that affects competitiveness of most European small enterprises, the one of (non-) access to e Business solutions. Through i-SeT suite it will be very easy, even for a tiny tourism organization, to have a stand-alone integrated e-business tool-box that provides customized internet and intranet services,
promoting the deployment of and facilitating access by SMEs, or networks of SMEs, to services of public interest; supports the attraction of higher needs tourists (through access to ICT services)  and enhances the competitiveness of tourism SMEs in the regional economy context.

i-SeT provides aaccess to, and use of, new forms of work (in particular facilitating cooperative work, job sharing and coordination for an efficient organization of part-time work), business and commerce from which they may otherwise be excluded because of the current size of their business.

i-SeT has been developed in order to facilitate very small tourism organisations that because of lack of expertise and resources would be excluded from advance ICT platforms. It provides a stand alone service that although does not require high level ICT expertise  offers an integrated e-tourism tool-set in a competitive price. More specifically, the i-SeT service among others addresses the relevant area of co-operation services from a multi-disciplinary perspective, integrating insights and models from computer-enhanced tourism management and collaboration-oriented e-business activities filling a gap in the current tourism industry value chain especially in the area of very small tourism organisations.
